Spring Necessities

You will never believe it but the polar vortex has returned to Chicago giving all the freezing children the second double snow day of the year. Sure, Chicago winters are pretty rough but they haven't been this bad in years. This terrible weather has me yearning for the spring days to come (Anything above 40 degrees is what I'll consider spring.) And coincidentally the spring catalogue from Vineyard Vines arrived in the mail only fueling my want for spring with all their pretty shorts, skirts, dresses, etc. So here's some of my must haves from Vineyard Vine's spring collection.
(The shorts are my fav. What do you think?)
And here's some of my favorite pieces from the Lilly Spring collection.

(It was so hard to choose what I most wanted from Lilly. Their clothes look very promising this season. But then again, when don't they?)

And my list can only grow from there. The only thing keeping me sane in this weather is planning out my spring and summer. It's going to be the best one yet. But for now, I still have to get through this painfully cold weather. I'm a summer baby (born in June), the warm weather is where I thrive. Pray for me.

                         Stay sassy,
                                  Deirdre

Making Statements

Going to a school with a strict dress code of collared shirts and non-jean pants, it's kinda hard to spice things up. Sure the new school year brings an entirely new wardrobe but after a few weeks you find yourself repeating outfits. Being an outfit repeater kills me on the inside. (It's probably because Kate Sanders ruined Lizzie McGuire's graduation day with this phrase.) With this in mind, I'm always on the lookout for sweaters, shoes, headbands, really anything to make my outfits look different but one the most useful things I've found that comes in handy for my dilemma are statement necklaces. Yes, they may be kind of an old subject but they keep getting cuter and cuter. It's the perfect way to change things up and make your outfit that much more interesting.

See what I mean? I just have a plain, white polo button down with polka dot JCrew skinny chords and navy sperrys. Classic but kinda boring. Enter this black statement necklace and my outfit just got that much cuter. (I got tons of compliments on it too)
And I'll bet you'll never guess where I got it. Give up? Target!!! I almost couldn't believe it when I passed by the jewelry section and saw it hanging there. Fashion finds are the best finds!!!!

Aren't I cute? (Actually I'm just embarrassing myself.)

Until next time,

Movie Night's the Best Night

I'm obsessed with Netflix just as much as everybody else. I love pretty much every type of TV show. From Gossip Girl to 30 Rock, I obsessively watch them all but when it comes to movies, nothing beats a chick flick. Who doesn't want a feel good and fun movie? Trust me, if there's one thing I know, it's chick flicks.
Here we go (in no particular order):
1. Lol - even though I'm not particurly fond on Miley Cyrus (don't worry. She filmed it in her pre-crazy days), I think this accurately portrays teenage struggles with relationships, friends, moms, etc. Plus, it's set in Chicago so, represent.

2. Chalet Girl- this might not have the most realistic plot (but then again, what movie does), it's such a cute movie with pretty scenery and pretty people. (Oh did I not mention Chuck Bass is in it?)

3. High School Musical- Zac Efron, Singing, Sharpay. Need I say more?
(Always liked Sharpay more than Gabriella tbh)

4. Breakfast at Tiffany's- If you haven't seen this movie you may or may not be living under a rock. If you haven't seen it, drop everything and watch it now because its a classic and if you have seen it, it deserves a re-watch. I could watch this movie a million times and still not be sick of it. Gotta love Audrey.

5. Sleepover- I first watched this movie when I was about 6 or so at my first sleepover. It may be old but who doesn't love a movie about a sleepover scavenger hunt the summer before high school?

6.Scatter my Ashes at Bergdorf's- This ones a documentary but what girl doesn't want to be educated about the coming to be of Bergdorf's?

7. Grease- This one is another one that you could have not possibly heard of it. (Tip: If your ever bored one night with your friends, watch this movie and try to figure out all the choreography to the dances. A great way to spend a girls night in.)

8. Clueless- It may or may not be the best movie ever made. Typical Valley girl with an amazing wardrobe! Definition of chick flick.

  (Dionne working the Lilly Pulitzer)

9. Charade- Like i said earlier, if it has Audrey in it, it has to be good.

10. Pretty in Pink- Who doesn't love 80's movies with Molly Ringwald?

So now with all these movies, you should never be bored again. (Or unless your like me and will watch all the movies in a day.) Nevertheless, happy watching!

Livin the Lilly Life

Its time to live up to my URL and post something about Lilly Pulitzer. I'm so glad my purchurse (Sadly no plural this time) from Lilly's New Year Cheer sale has arrived. I bought the Kyra dress in the bright navy Pom Pom print. I loved this dress because it's so comfortable but appropriate for almost every occasion. I styled the dress with my own pearl necklace and earrings.

 Pearls on everything
Lillly can make any day a summer day

So in conclusion, all hail Queen Lilly.

A Double Snow Day and I Have Nothing to Wear

As the entire country of America knows, we are going through a bit of a cold spell (I'm living in -20 degree weather like some Eskimo). With the weather being as bad as it is, my school has very generously delayed our winter break by 2 days in accordance with this extreme cold. As an attempt to push off my APUSH homework to the last possible second, I made my dream outfits for the winter.
(Vest: J.Crew. Shirt: Ralph Lauren. Socks: J.crew. Shoes: LL.Bean boots. Jeans: Miss Selfridge. Bag: Kate Spade. Watch: Coach. Sunglasses: Celine.)
(Sweater: Vineyard Vines Shep Shirt. Shirt: Ralph Lauren. Jeans: Abercrombie Classic Skinny. All jewelry: Kate Spade. Boots: Tory Burch.)

Now if I could somehow get these outfits in my closet, I would be in prepster heaven. Enjoy the rest of your snow days!! I'm so sorry if you have to go back to school tomorrow like I have to. The quicker these days go by, the quicker we don't need these boots and vests anymore and we can bust out the shifts and Jacks. Until then, we can suffer together.
                                                            Besos,

A Look Back on 2013

2013, just like every year, seems un-extraordinary when I glance at it, but sitting down writing this post I realized 2013 was actually one of my best years in almost every aspect of my life. I got my first 1st in Irish Dance in the PC level, I managed to recall at this year's regionals, I participated in the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS (every dancers dream), and I made Varsity cheer at my high school (something I was not expecting to do at all.) I began to realize important things about people I thought I knew so well. I also made new friends that I can trust. But my most important revalation of the year was (drum roll please) I'm in love with the prepster life! :) I don't know where I would be if it had not been for that realization. (I'm pretty sure it all started with the life changing decision to watch Gossip Girl.)  I hope 2013 leads into a year that I can look back on 365 days from now and call it an amazing one. I would hate to sound like the millions of girls who say this at the beginning of every year, but being the optimistic person I am, I feel 2014 is going to be the best one yet. So au revoir to 2013 and bonjour to the new year.
Happiest moment of my life- Dancing on the World stage
1st football game of the season (I'm holding up the S sign)
After I
recalled at Oireachtas
Some great kids -minus my bestie Grace :(

XOXOXO,
Deirdre
